Please pay attention to updated shipping tariffs to the US
1 MIN READ Dear eBay Sellers, We’re closely monitoring how new US tariffs and Customs policy affect buying and selling on eBay to keep you informed and provide you with the best experience of working on the marketplace. What you need to know: From 3 April 2025, 12:01 AM EDT, US buyers will be responsible for additional duties on most orders of more than $800; they may also be asked to provide personal information to facilitate the customs clearance of their orders. It’s important to note that shipments may be delayed due to US customs processing. eBay will continue to adjust Estimated Delivery Dates (EDDs) to ensure accurate arrival estimates for our buyers. Duties, import fees, and personal info are typically collected by shipping providers after the buyer has completed their purchase on eBay. These will be excluded from the prices displayed to buyers on eBay. eBay will take steps to protect the sellers as you adjust to these new tariffs and requirements. This includes adjusting late shipment rates when valid tracking shows problems were caused by shipping delays and removing associated defects. eBay will also remove negative feedback related to tariffs. We’ll continue to provide updates as we learn more about the impact for the eBay sellers. Thank you for being part of the eBay community, Sincerely, eBay team1.7KViews0likes0CommentsWarning: Beware of suspicious emails and communications purporting to the eBay Customer Support team

2 MIN READ Dear sellers, As you may know, the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) requires exporters to obtain an electronic realization certificate (eBRC) to confirm realization of export proceeds. The Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) vide its trade notice dated November 10, 2023 introduced a new, streamlined, self-declaration based eBRC process removing dependency on banks. Despite that, closure of the shipping bills against receipt of foreign exchange inward remittance in the Export Data Processing and Monitoring System (EDPMS) in a timely manner is still a challenge. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) vide its notification dated November 28, 2024 has advised the banks to close shipping bills up to $1,000 until March 31, 2025, subject to following conditions: Verification of the transaction’s legitimacy (bona fide). Receipt of export funds. Compliance with Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) regulations. Assurance that the exporter is not under investigation or court cases related to these transactions. We understand that the aforesaid RBI’s notification will significantly benefit e-commerce exporters selling low value items, reducing costs and compliance burdens, and enhancing their competitiveness profitability. Learn more —> Discover details here → What you need to do: Confirm that funds for your export shipments have been received by your bank. Verify compliance with KYC, AML, and CFT requirements. Ensure your bank has all necessary documentation to meet RBI’s conditions. Note: These simplified procedures apply only to shipments valued at $1,000 or less and valid until March 31, 2025. Standard processes remain for higher-value exports. Thanks for being part of the eBay community. Your eBay team *Please note that eBay cannot provide legal advice. 1 MIN READ Dear Seller, Please refer to our AB Post dated 19 th April 2022 which stated that e-commerce entities facilitating sale of goods of e-commerce sellers must deduct tax at source (“TDS”) on the gross amount of their sales paid or credit to such e-commerce sellers. TDS is deducted for all Indian resident sellers where the gross sales of the goods or services during the financial year is more than INR 500,000. Effective 1 April 2021, the TDS rate was 1% on the gross sales of goods or services. Where the e-commerce seller had not provided a permanent account number (“PAN”) or where the PAN was not operational or valid, the TDS rate was 20%. Please note, effective 2 February 2023, the TDS rate has been decreased from 20% to 5% where the e-commerce seller has not provided a PAN or where the PAN is not operational or valid or wrongly updated. 2 MIN READ Dear Sellers, We’ve been working towards changes to improve the feedback experience for buyers on eBay which will give potential buyers better insight into your products. Therefore in 2023 we have launched a feature to allow buyers to upload up to 5 photos along with their feedback. Starting November 2023, eBay sellers have been able to preview images on their sold multi-quantity items feedback. With the success of the program thus far, we are starting to make those images available to buyers as well. We will continue to test images on feedback into 2024. Richer text and images in feedback can add credibility and drive sales by instilling additional confidence for interested buyers as they shop. To date, we've already collected almost a million images and the vast majority are associated with positive feedback and showcase the great products and positive experiences buyers have with our eBay sellers. Existing policies related to feedback and feedback removal will also apply to images. We appreciate that there may be some concerns that not all of the images posted will be positive. But rest assured, we take the protection of your reputation very seriously and have built moderation systems that review photos for inappropriate material. These updates will help to add trust to reviews, increase buyer confidence and drive conversion for your listings. You’ll be able to report any inappropriate feedback images in the same way that you’d typically report inappropriate text feedback. We’ll review the reported feedback and take action to remove it if it violates policy. For more information, visit our images, video and text policy. Best Regards, Team eBay1.6KViews0likes0CommentsYOUR ATTENTION REQUIRED: Update your shipping method today!
2 MIN READ Dear Sellers, In our email communication dated 20 July 2023, we had informed you about eBay updating its classification of shipping methods and logistic service providers/carriers (LSPs) along with the necessary actions required from your end. However, it has been noticed that these changes have still not been implemented. We urge you to refer to the table mentioned here to choose the correct shipping methods. Note that Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) visible to buyers will be based on the shipping method you have offered. Offering faster shipping methods in your listings (e.g. express shipping) but selecting a slower shipping method (e.g. economy shipping) to ultimately ship your products may result in your actual delivery date being delayed beyond the EDD. Selection of such inaccurate shipping method may lead to buyers having bad buyer experience or filing Item Not Received (INR) claims. As mentioned in our Shipping Performance Policy – Item Not Received Rate dated 16 June 2023, increased INR claims may result in eBay taking action on your seller account. Conversely, offering slower shipping methods in your listings (e.g. economy shipping) than the shipping method you actually ship your products by (e.g. express shipping) could lead to buyers placing fewer orders owing to a longer EDD. We strongly recommend that you offer accurate shipping methods in your listings which ensures that your products reach buyers as per the EDD and not after the EDD. If your products reach buyers significantly before the EDD, you potentially lose out on sales and GMV. Shipping Method offered on eBay listing Shipping Method selected to fulfill the transaction Possible Consequence Faster Slower High INR and BBE Slower Faster Lower GMV Please note that this update is only for shipping methods and does not affect the handling time that you may have set in your account. It is strongly recommended that you offer your shipping methods as accurately as possible that will not only help you to improve your performance on eBay but also increase your sales. As stated above, failure to deliver items as per the EDD could lead to increased INR claims, resulting in eBay taking action on your seller account. On the other hand, offering slower shipping methods in your listings than your actual shipping method may affect your potential buyer’s consideration to buy your items, thereby, reducing your sales. We appreciate your patience and look forward to your co-operation as we move towards this change. Regards, eBay TeamACTION REQUIRED: Update your shipping method
2 MIN READ Dear Seller, As you may know, the Estimated Delivery Date (EDD) of a product is one of the important factors that buyers consider when shopping online. Setting the right EDD for your products can increase your chances of selling and improve your buyer experience. The EDD that buyers see can vary based on: Handling time Shipping option selected Logistics provider / carrier used to ship the product Item location and shipping address Cleared payment To further improve the delivery experience of buyers, eBay will be updating the classification of shipping methods and carriers from 7 th August 2023. This means that you may need to change the shipping option based on the carrier that you use. Please refer to the table below to ensure that your current carrier is eligible for the shipping option selected by you. Choosing the incorrect shipping option may likely impact the buyer experience, and in turn, your account health metrics. Please note that this update is only for the shipping options and does not affect the handling time that you may have set in your account. In case your current carrier is not eligible for the shipping option selected by you, please change to the correct option using the steps mentioned below: Log in to "My eBay", first click on "Selling", next click on "Listing" tab, then click on “Business policies” in the left side menu. Click on “Edit” next to the shipping option – choose Please refer to the table below and select the correct shipping option at the location shown in the table. If you are listed on the US site, please refer to the table below to set the shipping time options If you are listed on other sites, please refer to the table below to set the logistics and transportation time options. Please note that EDD visible to buyers will be based on the shipping options selected; please do not select options other than the ones mentioned above. As the estimated delivery date is fixed, adherence to handling time is critical; breach of handling time will not lead to auto-adjustment of delivery date that would have been visible to the buyer at the time of placing the order. It is recommended that you correct your shipping time options by 7 th August 2023 to improve your performance on eBay. We appreciate your patience and look forward to your co-operation as we move towards this change. Regards, eBay Team634Views1like0Comments
